Buying a house can be stressful especially when you live in a different city, but Shar was amazing to deal with and happy to answer the millions of questions we had throughout the process. She is caring and passionate about her job and we would definitely love to buy from her again. Thanks Shar, you are a star!

Great communication and effort put in to make sure we got the best result

Shar played a huge part in buying our first home. She was able to answer any questions we had, she provided us with many useful information and showed us her amazing skills during an auction day. I would highly recommend Shar because of her professionalism, great knowledge of the field and very friendly approach. Thank you Shar for helping us on this journey.

Shar helped my partner and me into our first home after we spent many months unsuccessfully trying on our own. Working with Shar has been truly stress-free. The communication we received was outstanding and the organisation of our open homes, auctions, and offers was fantastic. We feel so grateful to have had Shar during this process and we will without a doubt be using her services again.

Shar has an excellent manner in dealing with people, nothing was a problem to her, and she made us feel at ease when trying to decide if this was the right place for us.

I’ve been incredibly impressed at the level of professionalism, detail and management provided by Shar and the Harcourts Ilam team from start to finish. Having assisted in both the purchase of a new property and the sale of an existing property, every step was planned and communicated with no surprises other than the beyond expectation result at auction. The inevitable high level of paperwork was dealt with efficiently by Shar in a very understandable way and from the moment of signing up to the moment of sale, Shar’s level of motivation, energy, effort, and detail was unwavering. Watching Mark McGoldrick work the auctions room was such a highlight, all the while being kept well informed by Simon Hollander on auction progress and advice both at auction and the pre-auction preparation meetings. Thanks, Shar and team for pulling it all together and delivering a great result for my family and I.

We first met Shar at an open home. Right from the start, we liked her honesty and enthusiasm. Our search for a house was very specific—it had to be large and within walking distance to UC. Shar was very responsive answering texts and emails quickly. We hadn’t brought a house in 20 years, Shar guided us through the auction process and the possession stage which was supposed to occur over lockdown. We really enjoyed working with Shar and would highly recommend her.

We recently sold our family home with Shar Davis from Harcourt's Holmwood in Christchurch. We were unsure if selling was the right move, but after the first consultation with Shar and Alan, we felt confident to take the first step. During the whole sale process of our house from start to finish, we felt like everything was under control. Shar and the team were very professional even with unforeseen circumstances due to lockdowns. She always had our best interests in mind and had a strategy to best promote the property. Always easy to get hold of and able to answer any questions we had. The end result with the Auction process was a good one with us happily saying goodbye to our home and feeling ready to move on to the next chapter. We would recommend Shar and the Harcourt's Holmwood team to anyone thinking about selling their home.

Selling my out-of-town rental property felt like the too-hard basket! I asked Shar if she would help me—we had an amazing journey together. Shar & Alan teamed up to get my property on the market. From the first message, then phone calls & zoom meetings, I never felt out of the picture, always kept updated. They both worked so hard getting everything ready to go to market, follow-ups & looking for new leads—truly amazing work done by them. This unit wasn’t a typical sale, so there were some issues along the way which Shar dealt with—nothing was a drama/issue or setback—just dealt with professionally & came up with solutions/options instead. Detailed weekly vendor reports were mind-blowing & explained the progress week by week. Support was always there by phone, email & zoom meetings so I never felt like I was out of town. The final week Shar kept me so up-to-date with the progress & what could happen on the day. Thank you for the amazing support but also the honesty & hard work you put in to sell this property for me. I liked being told straight up, with no sugar coating or telling me what I wanted to hear. I feel this is a strong reflection of your personality & the person you are—something I respect. I was nervous on auction day but Shar was on the phone, calmly giving me a rundown of what was happening in the room—it felt like I was there. The whole team was amazing, I felt I could make a decision without being pressured. They said they were working for me and I had to be happy with the results. Those words helped keep me calm, especially at crunch time when decisions had to be made. But that is how Shar rolls—very calm, professional & caring. In the end, we got a great result—better than I thought after our reserve set meeting. Thank you Shar & team—Alan, Simon & Mark. Shar, I wish you all the best for the future & I know you are going to go a long way as you have the personality & your compassion & respect for people. I am so happy you were keen to take me on

Mike and I are so grateful to Shar and Alan for their work on our behalf, selling our family home of 20 years. We have even enjoyed the process – which was quite different from expectations! Things that we have appreciated are the ways they have worked as a team, the individual skills and knowledge they have brought to the process, their honouring of the strong connection we feel towards our family home, and their ability to tap into the ‘Harcourt network’ to ensure that as many potential buyers as possible were aware of the value of and potential within the property. In terms of their work as a team, we have found them an absolute breeze to work with. Processes for communication were transparent, and both Shar and Alan were very responsive to our questions. We knew who was responsible for what tasks, and we were given clear advice about how we could best support both preparing the property for sale and then the auction process. Their strengths and whole of life and real estate experience contributed to a well-rounded team. Shar demonstrated warmth, care and attention to detail in all she did. This was most obviously seen in her abundant fudge offerings, but was also evident in how she meaningfully and individually connected with potential buyers and her focus on a process and environment that supported the vendor and potential buyers to feel comfortable and listened to. The property they marketed and sold on our behalf has been the place in which the story of our family has been created and sustained over the past 20 years. Shar and Alan appreciated this, humouring and respecting us as we shared precious memories, and journeying with us as we came t0 terms with the life change we were embarking on as a family. We are so grateful for their kindness. It has been an honour to work with Alan and Shar, and we now fully appreciate the amount of work that real estate agents put in to ensure a great process and a great outcome.
