We are not familiar with the Christchurch Real Estate market since we live in Auckland but had a friend who worked in real estate here, so we asked her if she had anyone that she knew in Christchurch. Yes - she would be very pleased to help us and this set the tone for our entire relationship with her. She is an extremely experienced and hard-working agent who clearly loves her job. She highly recommended auctioning the property and we took her advice. Mary met us in Christchurch and was very helpful in suggesting good tradesmen that we needed since there were a few items that needed attention. When we returned to Auckland, we received continuous emails and calls keeping us up to date with progress on Open homes etc. On returning to Christchurch several days before the auction we were very pleasantly surprised at how well the property was looking. Mary suggested that we should have a Christchurch lawyer who understood the ramifications of the earthquake legislation and yes, of course! - she knew exactly the lawyer to engage! Mary made the whole process very easy! The house was passed in at auction, but Mary knew that this would probably happen and had two lovely young buyers who were buying their first house. A fter negotiations between the parties, we achieved a result that both parties were very happy with.
