Set expectations clearly for us in terms of how best we can sell. Then he delivered on his market knowledge and execution of the sale. Trust is earned not given. The biggest attribute he has is humility, and can read the room when it comes to negotiations.

The process of purchasing a home can be stressful especially when new to the area however we felt safe with Simon. He quickly understood what we were looking for and the things that ticked the boxes for us, and although very professional in his field we really appreciated his down to earth, relatable manner. Simon was quick to return phone calls and emails and went to great lengths to find out the 'answer' to any queries we did have. We also loved the fact Simon is Kerikeri born and bred so lots of tips/knowledge for us newcomers in that regard. We would very happily work with Simon again whether buying or selling a home. Simon was professional in his dealings with us and a great communicator right through the journey which we really appreciated. From our first meeting discussing the market and the process of selling, to sending us a photo of an item in the house which he was querying, prompt open home feedback to informing us about the timing of building inspections, we always knew what was happening. Simon was conscious of keeping any negotiations active and kept us in the loop with progress reports with the prospective buyers until contract stage. When it became unconditional it was celebration time! A great result in the current market. Thanks Simon.

Overall, we had a good experience selling our home. Our property was on the market for around five weeks, and throughout the campaign we appreciated the clear and consistent communication from our agent. We were kept well informed after every open home, with honest feedback about prospective buyers and some realistic discussions around price expectations, which helped us understand the market and make informed decisions. From the beginning, we weren't completely convinced that auction was the right sales method for our property. While we understood the reasoning behind the recommendation, our home didn't sell at auction, as we had anticipated, and the additional auction costs were disappointing. In hindsight, we feel those costs could have been avoided. Following the auction, our agent remained committed to achieving a sale and ultimately secured a cash buyer. Although the final sale price was lower than we had hoped, we recognise that it reflected the current market conditions rather than a lack of effort on the agent's part. Our only other reservation was the commission. At around $36,000, it is a considerable fee, and while we understood and agreed to the commission structure when we signed the contract, we couldn't help but feel it was high relative to the work involved. Overall, our agent was professional, approachable, and communicated well throughout the process. While there are aspects of the experience we would have preferred to be different, we appreciate the work that went into achieving a sale in a challenging market and would recommend them to anyone looking for an experienced real estate agent.
