Peter contacted me after I went to an open home of his, and after ascertaining that particular house wasn't for us, invited us to view an off-market property in the area we were looking. He told us we wouldn't find a better house that ticked all of our boxes, and he was right! Even though Peter was sure this was the house for us, he still set up several on and off-market inspections at other properties, until we conceded this was, in fact, the house for us. We were disappointed at the estimated sale price the agents gave us at open homes and in follow up conversations. It was $90,000 off the reserve price and the price we purchased it for. Either, a terrible tactic to get people to the open homes / auction rooms or the agents weren’t educated on comparable sales & the local market. Thankfully we’d done our own research and knew what it was worth. We also didn’t receive any congratulatory gift after purchase, typically industry practice. In fact, my last house purchase was for a smaller amount and we received a pizza oven. Besides from being there at our pre settlement inspection, we didn’t receive any support from the agents, no contact after open homes, no contact after I requested the property documents, in fact the agents didn’t recognise me when I walked into the auction room. We rang to ask a question after auction and our number wasn’t even saved in his phone.

Peter was the first (only!) agent we met, that we felt was really on our side. He listened to what we were looking for, proactively followed up with relevant properties to consider and went the extra mile to arrange private viewings of multiple properties.
