My New Zealand journey began on a dairy farm outside Kaikohe in 2013 — quite the life reboot after moving from Johannesburg, South Africa! Up to that point, I had enjoyed a 12-year career in real estate alongside other ventures and had completed a Bachelor’s degree in Town Planning. Back then, I worked hard in the city so I could spend my free time in the bush — so life on a farm in Northland was the perfect fit.
Fast forward a few years, and I returned to real estate in Kerikeri in 2022. More recently, I was offered the opportunity to join the Barfoot & Thompson Kerikeri team — a move that felt like a natural progression in my career. I’m grateful to be part of this dynamic group of professionals who share a genuine commitment to client care, teamwork, and community.
Over the years, I’ve learned many lessons in real estate, but one of the most important is that selling a home is something you do with your vendor, not for them. Open, constructive communication is key to navigating the marketing and selling process successfully. It can be a stressful time for both vendors and buyers, and I believe one of the most valuable roles a salesperson can play is to keep everyone informed and working together toward a shared goal.
Being well prepared and having a clear plan always make the process smoother. Combine that with a detailed understanding of the local property market and how to present a home at its very best, and you have the foundation for a successful sale.
For me, the true joy of real estate lies in achieving the desired outcome with my clients — and in helping new owners begin the next chapter of their story.
