I am surprised you asked for our review as I did have a conversation with Aaron after the sale to express our dissatisfaction with the way he got our business and how he then managed our sale. We appreciate he was inexperienced at the time but the most unhelpful aspect was unavailability on the day of completion when complications arose with the purchasers being unaware of issues that we had informed Aaron about. I suspect this review will not be one of the ones you share. If is is one then I would like to add that our experience with Ian and Anna of Harcourts with a subsequent sale was outstanding.

We purchased our house in 2017 in Whakatane with Aaron Standen as our agent. It was a stressful time, as we had lost our previous house of 30 years to the Edgecumbe flood, but Aaron was just the agent we needed to deal with, as he was open, honest, clear about every step of the purchase process, and did everything he could to accommodate our endless queries and need for due diligence. He was kind, patient and never tried to overcharm or oversell on the sellers' behalf. Considering the fact that the process was the excruciating and disagreeable one of a Set Sale, he did everything he could to make it as "pain free" as possible. Because of his honesty and attention to detail, we could rate Aaron as one of our friends at the end of the purchase. We think he is an honourable and generous person and have always been thankful that he was the agent we had the fortune to encounter. We must add that, for sake of the sanity of the housing market and the future of real estate, however, we would like to see the abolishment of the set sale and auction processes in favour of open negotiation with the buyers and sellers. Buying and selling a house should be a matter of decency over greed, and should not throw anyone into the panicky process that set sales and auctions promote. The faster that the real estate market finds its moral compass and stops allowing people to succumb to greed over true value, the better. We rank Aaron as one of the really good estate agents. However, we do not like what estate agents are doing within the housing market at the moment. We wish him luck, but we also stress that the industry as a whole needs to look at itself carefully and stop many of its dreadfully inhumane tactics that drive people into crisis rather than into shelter.
