I was born and bred in Morrinsville, my schooling began at St Joseph’s Primary School and my college years were spent at Sacred Heart Girls Highschool in Hamilton.
Growing up all our family holidays were spent at Waihi Beach.
Our first bach was in Wallnutt Avenue which we owned for about 30 years. My earliest recollection was of the toilet (longdrop) being in the middle of the back yard, then progress, dad built a toilet attached to the house and I can still remember the night cart collecting the waste.
Then more progress - we actually built a bathroom attached to the bach which was awesome.
That bach today still looks the same, not many baches are still original at Waihi Beach.
Waihi Beach is where I met my husband, I was 15, he was 17, we got engaged in our 20’s and we bought our first house in 1980 in Waihi, a very old cottage, got married a year later and proceeded to have 2 children, now in their 30's, both whom live here with their families (my 5 grandies).
My working career began in Morrinsville in accounting at age 15, then in my early 20’s I was offered a manager’s position at the then Waihi Leader and magazine shop. From there I moved to the Waihi Gold Mine for a number of years, then back to accounting in Katikati for 9 years, then back to Waihi in accounting.
But on passing Fowlers Real Estate office one morning noticed a sign in the window advertising a position at the front desk.
I had recently lost my husband and had been residing at the beach for a couple of years, funnily enough buying my parents 3rd bach, and working in Waihi, so thought this would be an ideal opportunity to work in Real Estate, which had always been of real interest to me.
So, after ringing up Mike Fowler, went for an interview and was offered the job on the spot, which I accepted, and so started my career in real estate as office manager, a position I held for 6 years, and a job I loved.
Around Christmas 2019 I started thinking seriously about being a Sales Agent. I’d had my licence for the last 2 years as I had needed this to be able to answer questions when put to me about the properties we had on the market when people would walk in or ring up.
So, decision made, I was to start in sales on 1st April 2020.
I am very excited to be part of the Award Winning Waihi Beach Professionals. I have a great personal and working relationship with my team members and love the challenges of real estate. This understanding of the back-end processes, attention to detail and damn hard work means if I’m privileged enough to market your property you can be confident I’ll get a great result.
Having lived in the Waihi Beach area means I understand and love our area and how to sell it to others.
Watching Waihi Beach’s progress over the years gives you great pleasure knowing you are living at such a lovely beach and using your skills to sell properties to people who also want to come and live here.
We know our petite village can’t expand like Mount Maunganui, we just don’t have the room, and that is what attracts people here.
They come to retire, relax, walk, swim, fish, bike the endless rail trails we have here, and enjoy all the dining we have to offer, and absolutely love this area – we are all here to stay. We have just increased our staff adding an extra 3 sales people to the Waihi Beach office and can now offer our services to Waihi residents along with our sales agent Richard Jordon. With us you will get professionalism, knowledge and fantastic service all round.
