After growing up in New Plymouth, Simon has always felt drawn back here. He has finally seen the light, moved back home and re-acquainted himself with some of his old fishing spots.
“I have many fond memories growing up here, fishing off the old breakwater, climbing Paritutu, exploring Barrett Domain, or biking along the Te Henui. It really is a magical place to live and raise a family and I'm so pleased to be back and eager to help others explore opportunities here.”
After 32 years with The New Zealand Police, including 10 as a Detective and 10 as a Prosecuting Sergeant, Simon felt it was time for a career change. His experience in dealing with people from all walks of life, is well suited to a career in real estate.
“I have learnt that treating all people with respect, integrity and going the extra distance, are keys to succeeding in any endeavour. I also regard negotiation as a particular strength, with 25 years as a property investor - buying and selling houses in the Horowhenua, Whanganui and Taranaki districts. I followed up a business degree (majoring in accounting) with a post graduate diploma in dispute resolution. Negotiation was a large component of that qualification. I subsequently also attended an intensive one-week course in negotiation, run by the Resolution Institute."
Simon's tertiary qualifications make him the perfect fit for the team at Tall Poppy New Plymouth, as does his down-to-earth nature and honest approach.
“I see how much New Plymouth has grown in the 25 years that I was away and what a thriving place it is now. Recently, while studying here, I drove Uber on the weekends and was reminded of how fantastic the people of Taranaki are, so positive and respectful, especially the young people. I see a land of opportunity here and would love to help others pursue their dreams in our beautiful region!"
