Reference for Matt Hourigan of Bayleys L Scott – June 8 2025 As a buyer: We began house hunting in earnest nearly a year ago and first met Matt at a property on Hautana St. He was one of the first agents I encountered and I’m very glad to say, the agent I finally bought from. There were around 10 other agents in between (some of whom I would not have been happy to get any commission from my purchase) so I feel I am well placed to give fair feedback. From the off he was different to most of the other agents I have encountered. As a woman viewing on my own or with small children in tow I am regularly ignored, I am seldom asked what I am looking for or what my budget is, in short, I am not considered a potential buyer. Matt was the first of very few who engaged and worked to get the sale. I’ve watched Matt on a couple of occasions; he engages with everyone. I don’t really have time to write a long essay, and I’m sure you don’t have time to read it, but here’s a summary – • He is one of the few agents to make the effort to speak with me when I’ve walked around a property (I mean actually come and walk with me, not just stand at the door), he pointed out features, disclosures, told me about the position of the vendors, and was curious about my little family and our property goals. • He is one of the few agents to follow up in person and not just send out the same lazy copy and paste text message/email. • He was incredibly responsive to my questions, where he did not have the information to hand, he found it quickly and came back to me. • He was persistent, but not to the point of being annoying. He has decent EQ so knows when he’s on the verge of being a pain, and he is very resilient, he keeps coming back. He is hands down the hardest working of all the agents I encountered, and it was for that reason he was my first choice when it came time to list my own.
