Outside of work, I’m an outdoors person who loves hiking, mountain biking, and spending time with family and friends — because that’s what really matters.

Marelize brings a unique blend of professionalism, warmth, and local insight to her role as a real estate sales consultant. With a background in journalism, and customer-focused roles, she offers a well-rounded skill set ideal for guiding clients through every step of their property journey. Originally from South Africa, Marelize holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and has called New Zealand home for over 20 years. After earning a Diploma in Journalism, she built a successful media career, including a senior editorial role at The Press in Christchurch. Her experience managing high-pressure deadlines and leading editorial teams across major Fairfax publications honed her communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills - all of which now serve her clients well in real estate. After relocating to Ashburton in 2012, Marelize took time to focus on family before moving into retail and customer service. Her natural ability to connect with people, stay organised, and go the extra mile makes her a trusted advisor - especially for older clients who are downsizing or first-home buyers stepping on to the property ladder. Marelize is committed to achieving great results and ensuring her clients feel supported and confident throughout the buying or selling process. She has a strong grasp of the local Ashburton property market and genuinely enjoys helping people find the right home or secure the best outcome for their sale. When she’s not working, Marelize enjoys reading, sewing, running, and spending time with her husband Alexander and their two children, Jack and Una. You’ll often find them enjoying water sports on the beautiful lakes around Canterbury.
