Giles sold me my unit in the Akaroa Village Inn ten years ago. When I decided to sell it this year, preparing for my retirement from work next year, it was a "no brainer" that I would contact him again to assist me. He is the consummate professional. His knowledge is amazing, and he is so calm - especially when I was worried my unit needed so much updating and money put into it to sell it. It didn't! I was fortunate to have Giles advising me as he lived in Le Bons Bay for thirty five years and was able to share his knowledge of the bay and Banks Peninsula with prospective buyers and this added an extra note of credibility. Communication is Giles’ main strength. I appreciated his almost daily contact as he kept me fully informed throughout the selling process. He has a wide knowledge of real estate gained over many years which he utilized to sell my property. I knew that he would be honest and trustworthy as he has an impeccable reputation. He has a calm, reassuring manner which I benefited from as we negotiated a property code compliance. He also has a highly developed ‘bullshit’ monitor and an active sense of humour which I enjoyed throughout the selling period. I would recommend Giles in a heartbeat especially as I think he’s about to give me a bottle of the dram that warms the cockles of your heart.

In most areas, Giles Simons has been great - good knowledge of the market on Banks Peninsula, prompt answers with our questions and good suggestions on different paths forward. A couple of areas are of concern: - Not revealing the consequences of accepting a lower deposit. Should the prospective purchaser fail to fulfil his contractual obligations, the lower deposit will be completely used up by real estate agent fees, lawyer's fees and auctioneer's fees. Indeed, we may well have to pay extra monies for these fees (over and above the deposit) and still have no sale of our property. - Although not completely the fault of Harcourts Grenadier, a cash buyer was allowed to slip through the net at the auction.
