You'd think that years of experience, a friendly affable character, a penchant for finding ways around obstacles, and an unwavering dedication to his clients would all add up to a great experience for sellers.. Well, you'd be RIGHT. As a (non real-estate) salesperson myself I was very picky and interviewed a long list of agents before settling firmly on Chris, and we have never looked back. Chris has been a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of self-promoting 'top agents' focussed only on getting the next listing and taking whatever deal they can get. His hands-on approach and personal ownership of the process ultimately resulted in a 3 way multi-offer at a price we're elated with - and bang on what he'd estimated when we first met. Results like this are hard to argue with and even harder to actually achieve - no doubt next time we're selling we'll skip interviewing others and will come straight to Chris, and I recommend other sellers do the same.

I am sure Chris knew from the beginning we going to purchase where we did. I walked in and said to the misses this is the one and she said hold tight this is the first one we view… needless to say a week later Chris phoned and asked don’t you guys want to come and view again and that was it. We chose to engage Simon and Cooper because not only had they been recommended to us, but they instilled confidence at our first meeting, with their strategising about how to get the best outcome for a property that needed to be sold under some very specific requirements. I was impressed how they sprung into action and organised photography, the marketing etc within record time when we had a deadline to get the house on the market just a week before everything shut down for the Christmas/summer holidays. They generated a good deal of interest in the property. Remained calm and confident even when curved balls arose, such as CCC for re-piling work only being approved by the Council a couple of days before the auction. Whilst I at times questioned their approach, they ended up delivering the success that they always assured me they were working towards. I am very happy with the result, with the house selling at Auction to a purchaser that they had generated, for a price that I was very happy with.

After living in our Muriwai home, designed for us by Graham Lane, a local architect and built by Brian Muir, we had decided after 36 years it was time to move on. To sell our home we engaged Simon Spiller who we knew had in-depth knowledge of the housing market in the district. Simon put together a package which he fully explained to us and the reasons why, prior to our acceptance and giving the go ahead. He suggested a deadline treaty sale based on a one-month marketing programme reinforced with four open homes plus half-page pictorial advertisements in the New Zealand Herald. After each open home we received a short text from Simon about the interest in our property and a full report a few days later. This kept us informed as to what the positives and negatives we faced were, from potential buyers. At the end of the month's marketing programme we were presented with firm offers and were able to sale our home. We were pleasantly surprised that the process, whilst not completely stress-free, was nowhere as orronious as we had imagined it could be. We put this down to being fully informed by Simon during each step of the marketing process. We have no hesitation in recommending Simon as a real estate agent.

I have dealt with many agents over the years and what was completely different about the Spillers is their 100% commitment to working for their sellers and negotiating the best price. In the past I have bought properties I would have paid more for due to the agents lack of ability to negotiate, experience and simply wanting to get a deal done. Completely opposite with these guys I actually paid more than I wanted to so when it came to choosing an agent to sell my property it was a no brainer. Being on the other side of the deal as a seller my initial views were confirmed as their service is first class and they again negotiated hard to achieve a great result. They are genuine down to earth people which makes them a pleasure to have around and work with and, if I am ever selling again there is no doubt who I will use but I hope I will never have to buy another property through them!

There is no one more knowledgeable or with more contacts to the Muriwai property market than the Spillers. They took the time to understand our personal position and our property before recommending how to sell. From the start we were told they would achieve the best price and even when we produced a Registered Valuation we were told to bury it and see if they could do better. Best advice ever as we did by approximately 10% which is a big difference. The Spillers whilst building great relationships with their buyers are always working to achieve the highest price for sellers and you can’t ask for any more than that. We highly recommend them without reservation. Very happy Muriwai sellers.

13 years ago, we bought our home through Bayleys and back then Simon managed us through a smooth purchase process. We have had an amazing time in our family home and when it was time for us to move on Simon was the only real estate agent we called. His local knowledge about our community and the current market was very important as we looked to sell our home post Cyclone Gabrielle, which was and still is a very raw emotion for the community.
