I’ve been in the property management industry for 16 years and I still get a real kick out of matching the right tenant with the right house. I’ve worked my way up through the ranks and for the last 13 of my 16 years, I’ve worked in South Auckland. Working for such a long period of time in the area really gives me an advantage. I learned very quickly that as a Property Manager I need to be able to see both sides of any situation. Add to that my problem solving skills, patience and an amazing sense of humour, and you have someone who will find you the home you’re looking for. This is true whether you are a landlord seeking the ideal tenants or a tenant wanting the perfect property. The diversity of Manurewa makes it such a vibrant and lively area to make your home. Auckland Airport is located in South Auckland and for some interesting pastimes there’s Rainbow’s End, the Auckland Botanic Gardens and of course one of the oldest shopping malls in the country, Westfield Manukau City. I have a husband, two dogs and a cat and I’m an avid movie buff. In the summer and on long weekends, we try to get away to as many of the beautiful camping sites as possible. The role of Property Portfolio Manager at Barfoot & Thompson Manurewa is perfect for me. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and getting to know them and their needs. Finding someone a property to make their home is the best part of being a property manager. I love coming to work knowing that each day will bring something different. My previous roles with Housing New Zealand and Youi Insurance also involved working with people and finding solutions, so the transition to this role was very smooth. I feel proud to work for Barfoot & Thompson, a leader in the industry and a company that has strong connections to the community. I’ve lived in Papakura for over 30 years and have strong links to my community through sport, especially netball. I’ve coached netball, been involved in various committees and I still play competitively. Women’s Refuge and the New Zealand Cancer society are charities I choose to support. I am a mother of two and have two gorgeous granddaughters. Being a Nana is the best role I have had! I love cooking, gardening, working with arts and crafts and watching or attending sporting events. My personal philosophy is embodied in a quote from Maya Angelou. “My mission in life is not merely to survive; but to thrive: and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style.” I adapt well to people and their circumstances and I strive to provide premium customer service, creating the best possible outcomes for landlords and tenants.

As Property Manager at Barfoot & Thompson Manurewa, putting a roof over our clients’ heads is my responsibility and one I take very seriously. I started my real estate career as a Property Administrator in the Body Corporate division. Moving to Property Management has given me the chance to meet new people every day and I find it’s a great way to get to know the community too. Barfoot & Thompson is an exceptional company, offering its staff world-class guidance and support. It is very much a family-orientated business, with a strength that comes from its people who support each other every day to satisfy their clients with honesty and transparency. Back in 2000, my family and I immigrated to New Zealand for better opportunities and education. We lived in rental properties throughout South Auckland from Papatoetoe to Weymouth, Papakura, Mangere East and Hill Park so I know the area well. I completed a Bachelor of Health Science and developed an understanding of health, healthcare and its services in New Zealand. In a funny kind of way it’s very relevant to my role in Property Management, particularly in line with the Healthy Homes Standards introduced recently. Outside of work I enjoy a good movie, Netflix marathons, cooking, baking and reading and I find if I keep fit and healthy, everything else in my life falls into line. I am very well organised and hardworking and my philosophy of “no excuses” is always at the back of my mind. I am a fluent speaker of Niuean, English and the New Zealand Sign Language. My role of Property Management Administrator at Barfoot & Thompson Manurewa gives me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our landlords and tenants, and I find every day at work is satisfying and enjoyable. I’d heard good things about Barfoot & Thompson over the years so when there was an opportunity to join the Manurewa team, I jumped at the chance. Prior to working in Property Management, I was a Customer Service representative and an Assistant for a marketing team, which involved interacting with customers and the community. I’m definitely a people-person and I’ve always taken great pride in helping others. Problem-solving is something I particularly enjoy and my skills in that area have been a useful contribution to the Property Management team here at Manurewa. I’m currently studying at Massey University for a Bachelor’s degree of Business majoring in Marketing and I’m a qualified make-up artist. Manurewa is a very welcoming community. I’ve lived here for the past five years and have come to know it well. In the weekends I like to visit my home town up North.
