I know the real estate profession primarily works in favour of the seller, as they’re the ones paying the commission — not the buyer. But at the very least, there should be basic honesty, professionalism, and human decency involved, especially when dealing with first-home buyers who rely heavily on the agent's guidance. In my case, the real estate agent kept giving us false information and made multiple empty promises regarding the issues highlighted in the building report. They assured us that all the concerns would be addressed before settlement, but that never happened. I raised these concerns multiple times, including during the final inspection, and was met with more promises — but no real action. To make matters worse, the solicitor involved seemed to be on their side, and despite emailing her four times, I never received a response. This left us feeling unsupported and helpless. Now, it's been two months since we bought the house, and we are still waiting for the issues to be fixed — including something as basic as receiving all the keys to the property. Every time we follow up, we’re told things will be sorted, but nothing concrete has happened. This has been a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience. I would strongly advise others — especially first-home buyers — to be extremely cautious when dealing with this agent. Get everything in writing, and don’t trust verbal promises.
