Recently, when we embarked on selling the home and property that we had occupied and cherished for over 30 years, we selected Aaron Paterson to facilitate the processes involved. From our perspective, Aaron proved to be an exemplary person for the role and the attributes that he demonstrated in the course of enacting the role included the following: Empathy: The property was originally a bare 10 acres site, in part with hill-top 360 degree panoramic views. In the intervening years a, lovely two-story home that we savoured living in was built, extensive flower and vegetable gardens established, infrastructure for grazing stock put in place, and a pond /wetland and surrounding bush area was created. Aaron empathised with the wrench we felt moving on from this place and his measured advice and support helped us deal with the constant swirl of mixed emotions we felt dealing with the jobs to do – to sell. Efficiency: During all of communications and interactions with Aaron, he made the focus of what was to discussed and decided on clear and the talking to be done was always meaningful and direct. There was no waste of time and words. At the same time there was space for mutual storytelling and banter that helped us get to know one another; to build what we felt was a good working relationship. Energy: Coupled with Aaron’s efficiency was his boundless energy. He was always checking in, encouraging, reassuring, nudging, following up, getting back – to ensure that his, Baley’s and our tasks were getting done in a timely way. He never flagged.
